Meet Victoria!
We’re so proud to welcome Victoria to the Hiking in Heels team! As a first-gen college student, she’s bringing a fresh perspective, a genuine love for Greek life, and a passion for supporting and mentoring girls as they navigate the recruitment process.
Victoria didn’t come to us as a client, which makes her role even more special. She represents the many amazing girls who believe in the Hiking in Heels mission and want to be part of empowering girls to show up confident, prepared, and true to themselves during recruitment.
She’s already jumping in to help behind the scenes and can’t wait to encourage you, share insights, and cheer you on throughout your rush journey. We’re lucky to have her and know you’re going to love getting to know her too!!
P.S. Thinking about a college internship? You don’t have to be a former Hiking in Heels client to be a great fit. While we absolutely love hiring past clients, Victoria wasn’t one, and she stood out to us through her drive, thoughtfulness, and genuine interest in empowering girls to go Greek. Hello everyone! My name is Victoria Kellam
I decided to participate in sorority recruitment to find my home away from home. Although it sounds cliché, I truly was able to find that. I met so many girls with the same interests as me. Besides that, having sisters to do things with constantly is the best thing ever!
How did you prepare for sorority recruitment?
To prepare for recruitment, I made sure to keep up with all the Panhellenic and sororities’ socials. I started preparing as soon as summer started! I began planning all my outfits for the rounds and reached out to alumni to assist me with my letters of recommendation. Then came recruitment week! Recruitment was not easy because of how long it was, but it was such an amazing experience getting to know all the chapters. Recruitment was SO much fun, and I would run it back if I could!
What was the best part of bid day?
The absolute best part of bid day was opening my bid day card and the rush of adrenaline when I found out where my bid was from! Running home for the first time was so surreal, and it felt like an absolute dream.
What do you love the MOST about your sorority experience here at UT?
The thing I love most about my sorority experience is the different ways to be involved and the amount of support you get from your sisters. Whether you’re in pre-law or pre-med, there are so many smart girls who are willing to help you succeed in life.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I absolutely love shopping in my free time! I always spend my weekends at the Domain here in Austin, checking out different stores and trying new restaurants!
Why are you so passionate about helping girls go Greek?
As a first-generation college student, and especially being the first one to rush in my family, I was super overwhelmed and nervous because I didn’t know how to navigate Greek life or college. Helping girls go Greek is so fulfilling because I know I can help someone who was once in my shoes.
What is your favorite piece of sorority recruitment advice you’d give to PNMs?
Go with your gut. Going into sorority recruitment, you want to listen to yourself and only yourself. Don’t let anyone get in the way of that, and you will end up exactly where you need to be. Everything happens for a reason!
With love,
Victoria Kellam
