Welcome to PART 2 of our Sorority Recruitment Prep, Preference Round Outfit Inspo series!! *All dresses are under $200!*
Shopping for spring recruitment this January? Getting a super early start for fall? (No judgment here; we’re nothing but impressed!) Today we’re sharing some of our very favorite dresses – all of which we fully approve for the upcoming spring sorority recruitments. There’s something so refined and elegant about an LBD or crisp winter white. This one’s for our girls who LOVE a classic black-and-white look.
*PS – None of these are sponsored/partner links, we’re just sharing because we truly love and recommend them!*
A quick reminder of what preference round is prior to jumping in:
Preference Round is the last round of formal recruitment, and it’s the very dressiest! Girls typically wear cocktail dresses and heels. Some schools have IYKYK traditions where you wear specific colors this round (like UT, UGA, and Auburn). For others, you can wear any color you’d like.
Preference Round for a SPRING sorority recruitment is styled a little differently than Preference Round for a FALL sorority recruitment. It can also vary by school – USC’s style is way different than Baylor’s or IU’s.
The general look you’re going for here is something stylish you would wear to a wedding. However, if you can wear it to New Year’s Eve (think sequins, aggressive sparkles, too tight, etc.) you’ve gone too far.
Our coaches have put together a list of their top picks (black/white edit) for preference round, below. Let’s get to it!
Deanna Dress | ASTR the Label | Revolve: Link to Buy
We love an elegant tweed!! This paired with metallic gold heels would be a hit.
Heartbreaker Dress | Lovers and Friends | Revolve: Link to Buy
Classic black, but with a fun twist. You’ll definitely want a jacket, but there’s some serious wow factor when you take it off.
Scooped Alia Dress | LIKELY | Revolve: Link to Buy
The pointy puff sleeves are fun and unique, and the color keeps it sophisticated.
Satin Bow Mini Dress – Exclusive | Bloomingdales, Link to Buy
We know it’s the black and white edit, but we feel compelled to tell you this ADORABLE DRESS is also available in red. Grab it now on sale and it’s ready for next Christmas 😉
Quick tip: Our founder owns this one. She says if you’re in between sizes, size up because it runs small.
Crystal Bow Detail Strapless Minidress | CITY STUDIO | Nordstrom, Link to Buy
Women’s Bow-Strap Scuba Crepe Fit & Flare Dress | Macy’s, Link to Buy
Can you have too many bows? Absolutely not. We’re obsessed with this cute cream-colored one. Love the delicate bows on the shoulder straps. We also love how it’s on sale for $98! Pair this with some neutral-colored strappy heels and you’re good to go.
Convergence Dress | ELLIATT | Revolve, Link to Buy
Women’s Floral Jacquard Faux-Pearl-Embellished A-Line Dress | Macy’s, Link to Buy
The pearl-covered neckline is stunning, and we love the slight sparkle from the jacquard fabric. Such a pretty, classic look for sorority recruitment, but recently released + tough enough to find so it’s unlikely anyone would have it. You would get SO many compliments.
Crystal Bow Off-the-Shoulder Mini Dress – Exclusive | Bloomingdales, Link to Buy
SO PRETTY. When it comes to sorority recruitment dresses, we’re particularly into this brand. Their dresses are incredibly feminine and flattering, and this dress is no exception.
Rhinestone Bow Puff-Sleeve Dress | Macy’s, Link to Buy
Faux Pearl Tweed Mini Dress – Exclusive | Bloomingdales, Link to Buy
Surprise: this one’s a two-for-one because it comes in black AND cream. We love everything about how elegant this dress looks. The pearl neckline, the tweed, the modern look – it’s all very Kate Middleton vibes! One of our top picks for spring recruitment, hands-down. (Our founder owns this one too, and it looks amazing on in person. PS – it fits true to size.)
Happy shopping!!!
